If I were to tell you that saturated fats is not what causes heart disease, would you believe me?

You see, we’ve been told a lie in our culture that saturated fats are somehow unhealthy for your heart and clogs up your arteries. This all started with the soy companies back in the 1970′s trying to diminish the good qualities of coconut oils.

Now you can’t walk into a McDonald’s or any fast food restaurant without having something fried in the worst kinds of oils like canola, margarine or any kind of vegetable oil.

Here are the cold hard facts. In the 1920s, the incident of heart disease is very very low. During the 1950s, heart disease was known to kill 40% of the population. This was more than 50 years ago.

I would think that the number now is greater. In fact heart disease and cancer are the number one and two killers in the United States of America. It was only in 2005 that cancer moved into the number one position.

In any event heart disease and cancer are 100% preventable and 92% curable. Oops, did I say the word cure?

If you were to assume that it was caused by saturated fats, then we would expect that the consumption of saturated fats between that time has increased.

However, according to the book “Nourishing Traditions“, here are a few findings:

  1. During the 60 year period from 1910 to 1970, the consumption of animal fat declined from 83% to 62%.
  2. Butter consumption plummeted from 18 lbs to 4 lbs per person annually.
  3. For the past 80 years, the total dietary consumption of dietary cholesterol has increased by only 1 percent.

Can you believe this? If you eat butter people will say that you’re asking for a heart attack. But that’s simply not true. But what I will say is that you must eat the right kind of butter or else you’re in for some major problems.

First off the butter must be milked from healthy organic cows that are eating grass not genetically modified corn or soy beans. This is critical. So you’re going to have to search for a place that sells this kind of grass fed butter.

The other thing about butter (which is basically just the fat from the cream of the milk that is separated off) is that it must be raw. In other words it can’t be cooked, denatured or pasteurized in any way in order for it to actually be healthy for you.

The facts above contradict the assumption that saturated fats are the cause for the increase of heart diseases. This leads us to conclude that something else is causing those heart diseases.

In the same book, it also says the following:

  1. The average intake of dietary vegetable oils in the form of margarine, shortening and refined oils increased by 400%.

  2. The consumption of sugar and processed foods increased by 60%.

The circulation and blood flow to the heart is a contributing factor to heart disease. Also inflammation is another huge factor. Here’s what happens when people consume a diet high in carbohydrates. The excess carbs get biologically trans-mutated into sugars in your blood stream and raises overall inflammation. This in turn raises insulin levels to be able to handle all that sugar and inflammation. Because of the inflammation in your arteries, veins and blood vessels tiny microscopic tears happen inside the lining of the veins and arteries that lead to and from the heart.

Then what?

Well your body produces an excess amount of cholesterol to patch up and repair these tiny tears that happen inside your arteries. Cholesterol is supposed to be used for other functions in your body (like creating hormones) but it has to be used as a band aid to repair these inflamed arteries. So you have high cholesterol which blocks the arteries. The cholesterol is a symptom of inflammation caused by eating too many carbohydrates.

Remember cut out excess carbs from your diet like pasta, white rice, chips, crackers, cakes, pizza and even too much fruit or candy. And when you eat meat, eat grass fed meat that HAS FAT ON IT. You need the essential fat soluble vitamins for your health. Your cholesterol levels should be around 222 according to Hal Huggins.

People are eating way too many processed fake foods, tons of processed carbohydrates, tons of sugar. Evidently, saturated fats are not really what causes heart disease. Sugar and too many carbohydrates are what causes heart disease.
