How Many Calories Do I Need To Lose Weight?
Apr 8th, 2011 | By Todd Bowman | Category: Lose Weight
Many people ask how many calories do I need to lose weight. The problem with this is that they are focusing on the problem rather than the solution. Results follow focus and intention. Instead of asking how many calories do I need to lose weight, focus on eating healthy, living healthy and weight loss will be a by product.
Don’t focus on body weight percentages, fat loss, waist size or any other physical trait. Focus on changing your habits to become healthy and all the physical stuff will follow as a result of being healthy.
A calorie is simply the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water through 1 °C (now usually defined as 4.1868 joules). So a calorie is simply energy. Why do you want to lose energy? You want to gain energy and lose weight right? Stop counting calories!
Calorie counting is a trap but the weight loss industry still has us counting calories like sheep. It’s incredible how we’ve been so hypnotized by them.
How your mind works can strongly affect your weight gain or weight loss. In his book, “The Gabriel Method,” Jon Gabriel tells how he went from a morbidly obese 400+ pounds to much less than 200, primarily by reprogramming his mind to wish to be thin. Sounds freakin crazy right? It’s not though. The power of suggestion is very powerful on the neural cortex of our brains and can actually re wire how our minds actually work.
A profitable investment advisor in New York City, Jon tried each and every diet plan program available on earth to lose weight. It was an endless search for him to put together a program that actually worked for him.
He always gained back his weight, along with a few more pounds, regardless of the diet program he was on. He paid Robert Atkins, MD to work with him one-on-one, but immediately after a bit success, he gained back all of the weight he had lost. Must have forgot to eat those healthy fats Atkins despised. Has Robert Atkins endorses healthy fats like grass fed raw butter, raw cream, organic raw dairy he would been pretty close to a perfect diet.
Then after a particular day, Jon had an epiphany. His body wanted to be fat. He researched and found out how psychological reasons can affect his metabolism. He figured out how his thyroid and hormones functioned in response to the synapses in his brain.
He then worked on reprogramming his subconscious to be thin. Up to now, he’s having no problems in keeping his weight, even after he lost 200 pounds.
It’s the power of the mind. The power of intention.
What’s really an awesome point to consider about his weight loss is that there were no signs of him being obese in the first place, through doctor’s examination. All of his numbers are perfectly normal.

Jon now resides in Australia. He travels a lot now, around the world, providing talks for people who want to be thin. His successes number within the tens of thousands of formerly obese individuals. These were people who constantly used to ask themselves the question, “how many calories do I need to lose weight?”
They also were addicted to fast food, had immense carbohydrate cravings for high sugar foods like breads, pastas pizzas etc. He’s helped all of these people change their mental states and as a result get thin again.
The focal point to this incredible weight loss was the removal of psychological factors in his subconscious that let him feel it was safer to be fat. This is a common theme with overweight people. They use their fat as a something to use to hide from the world. They’re hiding from the pain and depression they have on a deep spiritual level.
Recognizing this mindset, Jon was able to reprogram his subconscious to think it was a lot safer to be thin. Sounds like voodoo or witch craft doesn’t it? It’s not. Many actors and elite athletes use mind control to achieve their biggest successes in their chosen crafts.
There are some of us, for different reasons, who prefer to be fat because it’s “safer.” We may have experienced being abused and have thought that it’s better to be fat instead.
Eating and struggling with food addictions is a form of self abuse whether we understand that or not.
Or, it’s possible we did yo-yo dieting which resulted in gaining weight instead of losing it. Kept focusing on losing calories. We focused on how many calories do I need to lose weight, instead of simply living and eating healthier.
This is because the mind set isn’t right. We have to be focused on health because it’s our birthright to be healthy and free to live the way we want and achieve the things in life we want to achieve.
Whatever the reason, we only need to reprogram our subconscious mind that it’s more healthy to be thin. To accomplish this, you need to meditate on a daily basis. Meditation helps to quite the mind and tap into our dormant brain. It helps us to control our subconscious mind directly.
Meditation helps us to picture in advance what our outcome will be which will make it happen much more easily and without trying so hard.
By doing visualization, you need to picture yourself thin and imprint it on your mind’s eye. Imagine what you’re wearing when you’re skinny, who you’re with and where you are. Then tap into what that feels like. Then hold onto that feeling for as long as you can, during the meditation as well as during the rest of the day.
We should invest several moments of quiet mediation each day, imagining how we would want to look like. This is critical for helping to fast track your way to positive results in your body physiology.
Early morning upon awakening, at noon and when we retire for the night, are 3 of the most ideal times to invest in visualization. Making yourself quiet your mind is going to transform your entire life.
We all have a general idea of what foods are beneficial and harmful for us. Include in your visualization process what you ought to be eating as well. Your body will learn to love those foods. Imagine yourself eating healthy food and enjoying the flavor and taste. Imagine yourself craving those foods and almost having an addiction to something healthy like a salad. Feel your mouth and tongue salivating over it.
The phrase “mind over matter,” describes what exactly is going on in our subconscious when we reprogram for weight reduction and correct nutrition. Mind actually becomes matter. What we think about we bring about.
In the sixties, Maxwell Maltz discovered that people coming to him for surgery also need a mental adjustment.
Is It Possible To Lose Weight While Increasing Calories? Find Out Here.

In “Psycho-Cybernetics”, he wrote all his observation and studies.
References to experiments of mental reprogramming in order to excel in athletics were carried out by Dr. Maltz. He also detailed how this mind-as-a-programmable-machine can work in almost everything in our lives, not just weight loss. When you start to have success with being able to achieve great things with your body, imagine what else is possible through this new mental programming?
