We all want to know how many carbs per day to lose weight rather than focusing on proper nutrition and dietary principles. Our focus should be on our health rather than our weight. When we reach our forties, we tend to concentrate our diet and exercise programs on losing our body fat (lipids).

The average guy loses about half a pound of muscle each year when he turns forty. That half a pound of muscle is replaced with a quarter pound flabby body fat.

When women reach menopause, they lose a pound of muscle each year and it converts into fatty tissue. At the age of 55, our bodies require approximately 600 lesser calories for maintenance compared to when we were 40.

It only means that we require less calories but the better nutrition as we grow older. We must make sure our meals are packed with nutrition with less calories.

The solution for this problem as you reach 40 is to keep muscle tissue at a high level. Whenever we exercise, we should incorporate a lot of strength training. However, as we grow old, cardiovascular issues also become increasingly important.

As we age our proclivity to Type II diabetes increases dramatically. So as you age how many carbs per day to lose weight actually decreases. Carbohydrates like pasta, bread, rice, pizza, chips, crackers, cereals and all flour and wheat products are not going to help you lose weight.

Cardio training will also help prevent and relieve arthritis symptoms, chronic fatigue and high blood pressure. If you walk just 20 minutes a day, you can reduce the risk of hypertension by as much as thirty percent.

A Canadian study showed that an hour and a half or aerobic activity, preferably three times a week, can increase bone density and reduce back pain. The control group felt very healthy.

Exercises contribute to giving you longer and deeper sleep. Deeper sleep leads to greater production of melatonin and human growth hormone, the most studied anti-aging hormones made by the human body.

HGH has been shown to reverse the signs of aging, improving heart and lung function. Melatonin improves the immune system response and acts as a powerful antioxidant.

This means that we shouldn’t decrease our activity as we age. We need to actively be pushing more weight and working out harder as we age. So we shouldn’t worry so much about how many carbs per day to lose weight as we age so much as how much exercise we are getting as we age.

We must continue training for strength and cardiovascular health. At the same time, you should be eating a healthy balanced diet, composed of protein and complex carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables not white refined processed flour products. Our intake should be reduced as we grow older. So how many carbs per day to lose weight depends on not only your age but also on what your fitness level currently is.

In order to reverse the signs of aging in older people, one medical group, specializing in anti-aging, promotes the use of HGH and anabolic steroids. The increase of production of cortisol may be caused by cutting calories too much. This stress hormone is responsible for increased belly fat.

You might want to consult with a nutritionist about a fat-loss program if your flab is still forming despite your exercise program. Don’t reduce your caloric intake too much.
