Learn why leg exercises at home are critical to do if you want to build muscle in your upper body. Learn just how critical it is to perform workouts on your legs if you want to build muscle.
For creatures that are bipedal the legs act as our stabalizing support mechanisms for being able to walk and ambulate around. Our legs provide the base or foundation of our entire physical and skeletal structure.
If you weak or atrophied legs, you can kiss any upper body muscle growth goodbye. If you’re an athlete or heavily into competitive sports and have skinny or non muscular legs, you won’t be doing any victory parades anytime soon.
Your legs are everything. In sports they should be the number one priority. In building a bigger or more ripped body, they should be priority number one as well.
Without your legs you have nothing. Treat them right and they’ll serve you for a lifetime.
Did you know that in order to get stronger upper body, you also need to do leg exercises? Watch this video below as Sean Nalewanyj explains why it is important to work out your legs and he shares what examples of the best leg exercises at home are. If after watching the video below, you don’t start implementing a leg training program, you’re nuts.
Whatever muscle you’ve been able to build in your upper torso, you’ll eventually hit a wall or plateau if you don’t also work your legs.
Your legs which consist of thigh or quadriceps muscles and tendons, hamstrings, gluteus maximus (butt), and calves release the most amount of human growth hormone (HGH) and anabolic testosterone in the body. This circulates in the bloodstream to help build up your upper body as well.
Leg training is a critical component of a complete muscle building program. Even if you don’t care about how your legs look, you should know that developing your legs can actually provide your upper body with HUGE gains.
That is True! If you workout your legs, you will exhibit a noticeable increase in size and strength in your upper body. And it’s all for this simple reason: The muscle building mechanism of the body is not limited to the specific muscles that you’re training in your workout.
Muscle growth occurs when the entire body is stressed and it has to adapt by secreting the important anabolic hormones like testosterone and growth hormone. These hormones are the primary limiting factors that control how much muscle you are going to build. The higher the level of anabolic hormones you have, the more muscle you are able to gain.
In order to naturally stimulate the secretion of these anabolic hormones, we have to do hard heavy leg training. This can be done with squats, dead lifts, leg presses and lunges and you can do some of these simple leg exercises at home.
If leg training is not part of your program, or perhaps only a small part of it, you’re missing out on total body gains that you could otherwise be achieving.
You should really consider it to be the most important exercise you can do each week. It will help you increase your speed, endurance and reaction time. This is critical for all athletes.
As Sean Nalewanyj advises, incorporate one hard leg workout into your schedule. Focus on pushing a high intensity and adding more weight over time. There’s no need to do any fancy techniques. Just one to two of the most basic compound leg exercises is all you need. In fact, you can even do some of the leg exercises at home.
There are many types of free weight or barbell squats you can do at home or use a kettlebell for some body weight squats.
